Uninvolved Parenting

This is the parenting style, that is the hardest to talk about, it is the hardest to realize and accept as well. Which is why it is extremely important to have a conversation about this. What is an uninvolved parenting style? Think of a working single mother of three, she has a lot on her plate and lot to look out for only by herself. She has to look after the house, she has to look after finances, she has to look at whether or not the kids are eating and further more what are they eating, she has to get in groceries, she had to drive the kids to school, its one hell of a job and she has to do it all alone.

In cases like these, a parent can tend to look over the kid’s emotional need, or any specific needs if they have any. It is possible that she might forget one of the kid’s birthdays while she was trying to make ends meet or she if one of her kids asks for help with homework, she could say something like I’m busy, you figure it out yourself. While this specific case could be extreme, and not only single parents go through this but there might be other reasons for parents to be uninvolved. The responsibility of having a kid might seem overwhelming, and it is normal to take time to figure out what kids want and how to provide for it. Our sessions with a professional counsellor can help you figure out more about what your child needs, and how to be equipped to provide for it.
